VINs do not use the letters I, O, or Q.

Use your 17-character VIN to start with a free vehicle lookup. It checks publicly available factory vehicle facts so you can identify the vehicle before paying for any report.

What you can get for free

The free lookup uses the NHTSA vPIC vehicle decoder. Depending on the VIN, it can return the model year, make, model, engine, transmission, drivetrain, body class, and manufacturer.

What is not included in a free decode

A free VIN decode is not the original Monroney label. Original MSRP, factory options, packages, destination charges, and a printable PDF require a compatible record from an authorized provider. Coverage varies by manufacturer, VIN, and model year.

Find your VIN

The VIN is usually visible through the windshield on the driver side. You can also find it on the driver door jamb, your title, vehicle registration, or insurance card. VINs contain 17 characters and never use the letters I, O, or Q.
